DepartureATX is a Texas-sized tribute band committed to honoring the music of Journey and other legendary artists from the Arena Rock era. The band’s origins trace back to 2010, when long-time friends Joel Godson (Bass/Backing Vocals) and Jesse Monaghan (Lead Guitar) came together with the goal of creating a Journey tribute band. After several years of collaborating with various musicians, they eventually teamed up with seasoned cover band veterans Mark Ramsey (Keys/Backing Vocals) and Scott Olsen (Drums/Backing Vocals). In a defining moment, Ramsey reached out to his friend Ryan Holley (Lead Vocals), and DepartureATX was born.

 

In 2024, Kimberly Wright (Lead Vocals) brought her captivating vocals to the group, infusing the band with a fresh energy and elevating their performances with her unique style and powerful stage presence.

 

Since its debut in 2015, the Austin-based band has built a loyal and growing fan base, regularly performing across Texas—from large stages in major cities to intimate, iconic venues. Audiences are treated to a dynamic mix of Journey’s classic hits and other timeless rock anthems, ensuring an unforgettable live music experience.
